Green Street is a social network helping people to become more sustainable in their homes and workplaces

www.GreenStreet.net.au

What have we been doing over recent years?

Sustainability- Our solid long-term background in environmental education in the 1970's and 1980's has provided a strong core of knowledge and experience that led to innovative work in sustainable business development in the 1990's.  This has enabled some tried and true testing of tools and resources that now help organisations and communities to develop sustainable practices with confidence.  Some new things are also in motion.

Green Street is a 'sustainability social networking' website and associated community engagement process accessible on www.greenstreet.net.au  This is working in parallel with the Transition Towns movement to help buld sustainable communities.

Similarly the Cooeee Network  www.cooee.org.au has been set up to help connect those who have workable 'sustainability' ideas with those who are prepared to give some guidance to it.

The MyKyoto Project www.mykyoto.org.au helps people to decide on the carbon reducing practices they may like to take on in their household.

Leadership - NACC has designed an Appreciative Action Learning approach to the development of Sustainable Leadership of companies and communities. The approach has been used successfully in a wide cross-section of organisations.

Community engagement and development - NACC was in the forefront of community engagement practices  right from the 1970's.  These have been sharpened even further in recent years through work with the Red Cross, Learning Network Australia, all three tiers of government, schools, communities and regional agencies.

Examples of recent work - covering the three areas of sustainability, leadership and community include working with:

  • Micah Projects, one of Australia's most highly regarded social justice organisations, facilitating a Sustainable Leadership Program and a sustainable enterprise program
  • Thirty-four businesses in West End and Blackall -Tambo as part of the Sustainable Business Clusters, helping to reduce carbon emissions and business costs
